Keane Southard is CSMTA 2016 Commissioned Composer

We are pleased to announce that Keane Southard has been named CSMTA's Commissioned Composer for 2016. CSMTA issues an annual Call for Scores and commissions a piece that is premiered during the State Conference. CSMTA Commissioned Composers compete at the national level for the MTNA Commissioned Composer of the year. Mr. Southard composition will be premiered during the annual CSMTA Conference between June 2-4, 2016 at Colorado State University - Pueblo. Click "Read more" for additional infromation.

MTASN is CSMTA 2015 Local Association of the Year

Congratulations to the Music Teachers Association Suburban Northwest, Local Association of the Year! This Local Association was chosen for their numerous programs, community outreach, and great leadership. The highlights of this excellent Local Association were their educational monthly meetings and extensive community outreach programs. Thank you, MTASN, for your dedication, contributions and accomplishments!

Deborah Turnbull is CSMTA 2015 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Deborah Turnbull, who received the 2015 CSMTA Teacher of the Year Award at the Local Association Luncheon on June 5, during the State Conference. Deborah’s accomplishments and her contributions to the Douglas-Elbert Music Teachers Association and CSMTA are many. On the state level, she has served as the Commissioned Composer Chair and is currently CSMTA’s Vice President for Membership. She has also served CSMTA as an adjudicator in numerous local association festivals, as a guest lecturer at various local association meetings, and as a presenter at CSMTA conferences.

A new policy regarding Notes & News distribution was adopted at the June 5, 2015, CSMTA General Membership Meeting.

In an effort to reduce our costs as well as our carbon footprint, starting in October 2015, the Notes & News will be posted on the CSMTA website only. If you would like to continue to receive physical printed copies in the mail, you must opt in by filling out this form.


2016 Concerto Competition Repertoire

CSMTA is pleased to announce the details of the 2016 Concerto Competition. 

The Concerto Competition takes place in January. Entries are sent on DVD or video upload, along with the online application. In 2016 the CSMTA Concerto Competition will consist of three categories in piano (Elementary, Junior and Senior) and categories in wind instruments and percussion.
